For all whiskey lovers out there, take a trip to a local staple to taste the genuine, hand crafted whiskey from Boston Harbor Distillery (BHD). Located along Dorchester’s waterfront, the distillery hosts weekly tours and tastings every Saturday afternoon. Their Standard Distillery Tour features a detailed description of the history of their location, the distillery as a whole and the variety of spirits they offer. Guests will watch, and learn about, the distillation process for their whiskies and rums, and test them out along the way.


The sample cocktail menu for the tours are as diverse as they are tasty.


Featured cocktails that tour guests can also sip on during the tour include, but aren’t limited to:


- Triple Deck’ah: Lawley’s Small Batch Dark Rum, BHD Maple Cream and Coffee Liqueurs
- Patriot: Putnam Rye Whiskey, Apple Cider, and Maple Syrup
- Nor’easter: Lawley’s Small Batch Dark Rum, Ginger Beer, Angostura Bitters
- Malted Orange Old Fashioned: Putnam Single Malt, Chocolate, and Orange Bitters


The tour lasts approximately 40 minutes and at the conclusion, visitors will receive a Boston Harbor Distillery branded shot glass. The tour is $15 and is limited to 20 people per tour, first come first serve. The standard tours begin at 2pm and 4pm, and the VIP tours begin at 1pm and 4pm and can be booked online. For those interested in shopping around the distillery are encouraged to check out BHD’s spirits, merchandise including a BHD T-shirts, gift cards, baseball and trucker hats, leather flasks and shot glasses.
