Boston Ballet: Winter Experience

The Boston Ballet: Winter Experience will run from February 18 through February 27, 2027, at the historic Citizens Opera House. Serving as a cornerstone contemporary program of the company's 2026–2027 season, this production brings together three striking ballets that explore structure, musicality, and high-octane human movement.

🩰 Featured Program & Choreography

The contemporary triple-bill spans avant-garde classical extensions to hypnotic ensemble systems:

• Emergence (Crystal Pite): A mesmerizing 30-minute ensemble piece set to Owen Belton’s pulsing electronic score. It treats the massive corps de ballet like a living swarm, shifting between strict order and organic chaos inspired by nature.
• Brake the Eyes (Jorma Elo): Crafted by Boston Ballet's long-time Resident Choreographer, this thrilling, fast-paced work is set to an adapted Mozart score infused with distinct soundscapes. It is recognized for its razor-sharp musicality and daring athleticism.
• Herman Schmerman (William Forsythe): A highly energetic, playful, and virtuosic ballet that subverts traditional classical structure. It features a driving score by Thom Willems and distinct, stylish costuming originally co-designed by Gianni Versace.
