The Boston Ballet: Spring Experience will run from May 13 through May 15, 2027, at the historic Citizens Opera House. Serving as the spectacular grand finale of the company's 2026–2027 season, this production brings together three celebrated masterworks by George Balanchine
🩰 Featured Program & Choreography
The 2027 program is entirely dedicated to Balanchine and has been specially curated by Suzanne Farrell, one of his most legendary muses. It features:
- The Four Temperaments: One of Balanchine’s earliest and most groundbreaking abstract ballets. Set to Paul Hindemith's score, it translates the medieval concept of the four humors (Melancholic, Sanguinic, Phlegmatic, and Choleric) into angular, striking classical movements stripped of narrative.
- Mozartiana: One of Balanchine’s final masterpieces and most spiritual works, set to Tchaikovsky’s orchestral homage to Mozart. Featuring black-and-white costumes and ceremonial pacing, it evolves from a quiet prayer into a radiant classical finale.
- Gounod Symphony: A rarely performed, grand tribute to the power of the corps de ballet. Set to Charles Gounod’s Symphony No. 1, large ensembles of dancers weave across the stage in intricate, constantly evolving geometric patterns celebrating symmetry and pure movement.
