What is Bookworms?
It is a short story book club but it’s not English class! Let’s talk about the stories; what we like, what we don’t and what we want to see more of. Our book club is a kind and respectful place, where everyone’s opinions matter but we share discussion time. We critique the author, not each other.
What stories are we going to read?
Every month we will pick two stories to focus on, 20 pages or less per story. Stories will be chosen based on member preference and how available the stories are.
What should I be looking for as I am reading?
We are going to start off talking about three things: character, plot and setting. So think about the characters: who did you love? What details surprised you? For plot, were you expecting the twists? What did you think about the setting? There are no right or wrong answers, but it’s fun to discuss ideas.
Who is running this book club?
My name is Gina Lee. I am a Pharmacy and Master of Public Health student at Northeastern University. I have lived in Boston for over five years and I love it. I love short stories because there’s not the pressure of reading a full book for a book club, but you still get to share and explore. I’m interested in facilitating discussions and listening to YOUR thoughts.
Come be part of the first short story book club in the Fenway!
All classes run from 7-8 PM
Members only/ free to Fenway residents.
