Author Liz Hauck grew up in Roslindale, frequenting the JP Licks on Centre Street with friends after practices for Peace Child and Neighborhood Children's Theatre and later hopping off the 39 bus for ice cream on the way to Forest Hills from Boston Latin School or art classes at the MFA. In her new book, Home Made: A Story of Grief, Groceries, Showing Up— And What We Make When We Make Dinner, she shares stories about food and community and cooking with teenaged boys in state care living in a group home in Jamaica Plain, where she volunteered for three years following the death of her dad, Charlie Hauck, who had co-directed the human services agency that ran a constellation of group homes in Boston for decades. We are beyond thrilled to host this local author & educator on September 21 from 7:00-8:30 pm for a reading and discussion of her memoir. We hope you will join us for this special event. Come for the stories and stay for a sundae—with cherries on top!
