Join the Nichols House Museum and Gibson house Museum this June to discuss Deephaven (1877) by Sarah Orne Jewett. If you don't yet know Jewett's writing, you are in for a real treat. This book is a perfect read to kick off summer - it is the story of two young women who summer together in Maine. And this is the perfect read for Pride Month, as it is sometimes considered one of the first gay novels.

Open to friends and newcomers alike! We'll dive into her life and the novel at this last book club meeting of the season. Participants will be provided with a list of discussion questions the week prior to the event, and we’ll highlight connections between our museums and the book/ author. Bring a quote from the book that stood out for you if you’d like to share with the group.
