Join Blue Star Families for a special Blue Star 250 event celebrating the founding of the National Guard and honoring generations of National Guard members and their families.
The day begins with coffee and pastries during check-in, followed by a featured speaking program highlighting the history and legacy of the National Guard, which formed in Massachusetts in 1636, and a networking lunch. In the afternoon, families can enjoy curator-led tours of PEM’s East India Marine Hall, Salem Stories, Pressing Importance: Salem and the Declaration of Independence and Bethany Collins, America: A Hymnal.
Throughout the day, attendees are invited to contribute to the Blue Star 250 Honor Wall by sharing messages of appreciation and remembrance recognizing National Guard members, veterans and military families. The event concludes with an opportunity to participate in the Blue Star 250 Story Collection, reflect on the day's experiences and receive thank-you gifts from Blue Star Families and local community partners.
Participants may also sign up for tickets to Yin Yu Tang: A Chinese Home (timed entry, limited availability) and are welcome to continue exploring the museum following the program.
PEM admission is free year-round for active-duty military and veterans. Military visitors can bring up to 6 family members for free this summer as part of PEM’s participation in Blue Star Museums.
