WHAT: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (“Blue Cross”), the title sponsor of Bluebikes, Greater Boston’s municipally owned bike-sharing system, is providing a free $20 Bluebikes credit to help riders stay mobile during fall MBTA service disruptions. The $20 credits complement the City of Boston’s free unlocks offer tied to select MBTA closures.
Blue Cross is the title sponsor of Bluebikes, which is municipally owned by the by thirteen cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts, jointly managed by the Cities of Boston, Cambridge, Everett, and Somerville and the Town of Brookline, and operated under contract by Lyft.
WHEN: September 3, 2025 (and while supplies last)
WHERE: The credit applies to both pedal and ebike trips across Bluebikes’ 550 stations in 13 municipalities, including Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown.
HOW: Riders can redeem the free $20 Bluebikes credit by entering code BLUECROSSMAMBTA3 in the “Rewards” section of the Bluebikes app. Credits are available while supplies last and once redeemed, the credit will be added to the rider’s account and remain valid for 12 months from the time of redemption.
