BLIND, Argentine Tango show, directed by Ana Padron and Diego Blanco from NYC based company ‘Tango for All’ with live music by Pedro Giraudo Quartet.
Premiere on Saturday, August 4th at 6:30pm in unusual Milonga like settings with 3 course dinner (meat, fish and vegetarian menu available) and possibility to meet all the artists - musicians (Pedro Giraudo Quortet) and dancers (Tango for All Dance Company) after the show
‘Blind’ is bold. ‘Blind’ is daring. “Blind” forges ahead with a fresh new vision for tango performance in the Twenty-first Century. Unlike more traditional productions, ‘Blind’ is not a show ABOUT tango, but rather a conceptual view of human interaction told THROUGH the tango, the techniques and emotions of this highly expressive dance.
Created by dancers Diego Blanco and Ana Padron and their musical collaborator, bassist and composer Pedro Giraudo, ‘Blind’ offers a bold and exhilarating examination of life and connection through the art of dance.
Being able to see is one of a five senses gifted to each of us at birth. But physical ability of seeing is not equal to ability to perceive or to understand the deeper sense of life. We go through life blindly, unsure and hesitant inside of which steps to take but, since the show of life must go on with ort without us, we just fake our confidence, and although clearly blindfolded we behave as though we were seeing our destiny and purpose very clearly. Would it be different if we choose vulnerability of admittance, if we chose honesty of not knowing? Or is it easier to put the blindfold back on and go back into playing strong.
‘Blind’ is not a frenzy of emotion, but rather a study of emotion. Each of the eight principal dancers is a brilliant performer on his or her own, but technique is not the main focus of the show. Although you will walk out of ‘Blind’ mesmerized by boleos, ganchos, sacadas as well as various lifts typical to tango escanario (stage tango), what will truly impress you is how well the dancers connect with one another.
