Founded in 1973, the award-winning Blacksmith House Poetry Series brings established and emerging writers of poetry and fiction to Harvard Square. In person readings will take place at 56 Brattle on Mondays at 8pm. Admission is $5, tickets are available at the door.
Selma Asotić
A Sarajevo-born, bilingual writer, Selma Asotić earned dual BA degrees in English Language and Literature and Comparative Literature from the University of Sarajevo, and an MFA in poetry from Boston University. She’s interested in poetry and revolution. She’s taught writing to undergraduates at BU and NYU, and ESL to adult learners at community-based organizations in Sarajevo and New York. She’s also worked as a translator and interpreter. Her first book of poetry was published in both Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in April 2022 and was awarded the Stjepan Gulin Prize in 2022 and the Štefica Cvek Prize in 2023.
Danielle Jones
Danielle Jones is a poet and educator, with over a decade of experience in arts administration. She holds an MFA from UMass Boston. Her work has appeared in Beloit Poetry Journal, Best New Poets, Consequence Magazine, Memorious, Southern Poetry Review, Rattle, and elsewhere. She is a recipient of a Rona Jaffe Writer’s Award, a St. Botolph’s Club Emerging Artist Award, and a Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellowship. She teaches writing at the University of New Hampshire, where she directs the Nossrat Yassini Poetry Festival and manages YAS Press.
