On Sunday, June 28th Landry’s will be hosting a socially distanced benefit ride in support of Black Lives Matter. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Black Lives Matter. The murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd have affected us deeply. This is not a new problem by any means. Racial injustice has gone on far too long. We can’t be silent any longer.
The ride itself will be a way for all of us to act, to reflect and to perhaps become more aware and driven to create a better community of inclusiveness and to not remain silent in the face of police brutality or racial violence and inequity.
It will be an opportunity to listen and to learn and to make lasting change.
We welcome all to be a part of our ride and to support Black Lives Matter.
The Ride:
We will offer two routes: one road and one mixed-terrain. Both rides will start and finish at Landry’s Bicycle’s in Newton. Riders will check in at an assigned time Sunday morning and will head out using a GPS device to follow the route.
This ride will follow Massachusetts Phase 2 guidelines for outdoor activity found here: https://www.mass.gov/doc/safety-standards-for-mountain-biking-and-cycling-phase-ii/download
Specifically:
• Riders shall not ride in groups larger than 5 at any point
• Riders shall wear face covering at the start and finish of the ride, and at any stops they make on the ride, and at any time they are riding within 6 feet of someone they do not cohabitate with.
• Riders shall not arrive early to their start time, or linger after their finish time.
As an essential business Landry’s has had 90 days of staff training and experience working safely and adopting best practices to ensure everyone’s safety is the top priority.
