Beyond Walls is working with local art teachers and renowned artists to produce colorful, large-scale murals celebrating Lynn’s rich history and the significant contributions of the city’s diverse populations. By the conclusion of this year’s festival, Beyond Walls will have curated the installation of more than 200 murals and art pieces in Lynn and other communities since its founding in 2017.


As part of its Classrooms to the Streets initiative, Beyond Walls is pairing local art teachers with artists to design murals, develop curriculum, and plan field trips. These Beyond Walls Teacher Fellows will receive Professional Development/CTE (Career and Technical Education) credits for their participation. In the fall, students and teachers will utilize these lesson plans in the classroom and on tours of the installations, connecting classroom learning with the public art on display. Since its founding in 2017, Beyond Walls has worked with residents, businesses, a corps of volunteers, and local officials to bring public art, educational programs, and creative design projects to Lynn and 12 other gateway cities.
