Tia Ray, the soul/pop queen of contemporary China, is famous for her vocal prowess. She represents a new generation of Chinese artists who can cross over between various contemporary styles.
In a celebration that bridges the Chinese and American music industries, Ray and Berklee College of Music talent from different countries will perform Chinese and English songs in mixed styles, including soul, pop, R&B, funk, and jazz. During the concert, Ray will be honored by the college as honorary Berklee ambassador to China.
The concert is the grand finale of the Berklee China-U.S. Music Summit, a private two-day event hosted by the Berklee Chinese Music Industry Club for Chinese music industry guests. More than one dozen CEOs and representatives will present career panels and network with Berklee students. Companies attending include Sony/ATV China, Universal Music, Chinese Music World, Weibo Music, Tencent Music, NetEase Music (Chinese music streaming giants), Apple Music, and Modern Sky Entertainment.
The concert committee consists of recent Berklee alumni Jonathan Foo ’18 (director), Yang Qu ’17 (music director), and Walter Kwan ’18 and Eugene Sun ’18 (assistant music directors).
