Celebrate Groundhog Day with Bees Deluxe at Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge on Thursday, February 2. As an homage to the hit movie “Groundhog Day” Bees Deluxe have vowed to reinterpret and play the 60’s classic "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," recorded by the one-hit wonder band Iron Butterfly, 24 times in a row—or until the lights go out.
Bees Deluxe, Boston’s only acid blues band, has an extensive and varied repertoire that includes songs ranging from Freddie King, B.B. King and Billie Holiday to Tinsley Ellis, Derek Trucks and Amy Winehouse. When they take to the stage at Ryles on Feb 2, expect something entirely different.
The song title, “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida,” was supposed to be have been "In The Garden of Eden," but Doug Ingle, the singer and songwriter slurred his words when he told Ron Bushy, the drummer, the title, and the mangled name stuck. The original version was seventeen minutes long but was edited down to 2:53 for radio play. Bees Deluxe will be performing "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"in its entirety and repeating it another 23 times. Ryles has a full bar.
Bees Deluxe features frontman Conrad Warre on lead guitar and vocals, Allyn “Aldo” Dorr on bass, Patrick Sanders on drums and Carol Band on keyboard and piano. For more info about the band, visit beesdeluxe.com
