Unbound Visual Arts (UVA) is pleased to present their latest exhibition Battle of the Sexes Revisited: The Sexual Harassment Volley of Today at the Honan-Allston Library Art Gallery from March 10th to April 27th. This timely event showcases the works of thirty UVA member artists and their understanding of sexual harassment and gender constraints. The exhibition coincides with Women’s History Month and its 2018 theme: “Nevertheless she persisted: honoring women who fight all forms of discrimination against women.”

The exhibition begins on March 10th with a free reception from 1-4:30 pm that is open to the public. There will be live music by pianist Mae Siu Wai Stroshane, complimentary appetizers, short artist and curator talks and a slideshow presentation by the Boston University Hubert H. Humphrey Fellows. This exhibition is supported by the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Boston University and the Gender and International Development Initiatives of the Brandeis Women’s Studies Research Center (GalDI/WSRC).

From the overt to the subtle, there are so many ways power is abused to manipulate a person’s sense of security and self-worth. The realistic and abstract pieces displayed will explore the wide range of subjects and emotions linked to sexism and gender discrimination. Spanning multiple mediums including drawing, painting, and photography, the displayed artworks will be available for purchase. The exhibition is curated by John Quatrale and advisor Brenda Gael McSweeney, Ph.D. Design for the exhibition is by Alexandra Kontsevaia Peterson.
