Come join a challenging yet fun hike on the Baldface Circle Trail! It is one of the most magnificent hikes in the White Mountains with nearly 4 miles of open ledges to traverse. Located in the northeastern corner of the Whites near the New Hampshire and Maine border, the trail is a challenging and strenuous 9.8 mile loop which climbs the Baldfaces (North and South). These peaks are l, respectively, 3606 and 3547 ft tall.
A Light backpack to carry your stuff (keep it under 8lb total if possible)
Waterproof hiking boots or trail runners (NO SNEAKERS!)
Outer shell + hood for the wind up top
2-3 liters of easily accessible water
Snacks and lunch (please dont pull some monk-y stunt and bring only a handful of nuts and berries on this hike.)
Electrolytes! electrolytes! electrolytes!

a knife and rope

Please have a copy of the map, downloaded on your All Trials app or have a physical paper map.
My expectations of the group:
Lets all try to have fun and hike as a team. While everybody is most welcome to join you will have to stay within reasonable distance of the rest of the group and not race ahead. I would like for us to hike as a group.
I am a fellow enthusiast and not a paid and trained expedition leader. I am not responsible for your safety and preparedness, you are! So if you are unprepared and slowing the group down, I expect you (and this includes myself too) to have the grace to turn back and wait at the parking lot.
There will be a mandatory gear check at the parking lot and you shall be turned back sans a refund if you dont have the proper gear. Before signing up for the hike please answer the following questions via comments:
1.Have you previously hiked 2 peaks in the Whites on the same day with atleast one being a 4000 footer? Please list them. If you have hiked internationally then list those, specifying whether they were hikes with more than 2500ft of elevation gain over non paved terrain.
2. Are you afraid of heights and if so will volunteer unprompted to take an alternate route up South Baldface?
3. Do you have all the required gear?
Also consider bringing a first aid kit, Ibuprofen pills and kinesiology tape.
Finally, 2 non-carpool spots will be opened up for those not driving from the greater Boston area, upon request in the comments section. Carpoolers will be compensated for gas money by ridj-it and provided with primo driving company by yours truly. (PS: I have a really cool story regarding brazil nuts).
NOTE: Trip might get postponed in case of rain on the day leading up to the hike or that day itself. The steep sections become treacherous when wet, like gremlins, only much worse! I will reschedule it for a later date giving priority to those who had signed up.
