Feldenkrais Awareness through Movement® classes can be done by anyone and the benefits are profound. Learn how small, gentle movements can lead to better posture, healing from injuries or repetitive strain, and relief from stress or tension in the body and mind. Find new ways to increase flexibility and discover new, more efficient ways of moving that will impact not only your yoga practice, but every activity you do. This is a three-class series focused on gaining more awareness and flexibility in the spine, but the effects of each class will be global and help you find new possibilities of movement for the whole body. While the benefits of the classes are cumulative, individual class drop-ins are welcome.
Week 1: The spine as a chain--discover each of the 24 articulating vertebrae and how easily you can bend, twist and extend when your spine becomes a bigger part of your self-image.
Week 2: By finding more flexibility in the thoracic spine, your posture will improve effortlessly and you will find backbending easier as well. The ribs become freer, as does your breath.
Week 3: Explore the relationship of the hips, pelvis and lumbar spine in order to move more easily in every yoga pose and in every activity.
Cost: $65 for the series (or $25 for an individual class)
