Asian Bodywork Therapy: An Introduction
Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
To celebrate the New Year we are opening up the first Introduction to Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT) workshop held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 to all who want to come and waiving the fee.
This is a workshop in foundational ABT skills. This will be a great opportunity for professionals and non-professionals curious about ABT, what it can do, and how it can be used either as a stand-alone therapy or in concert with other healing traditions.
In this class you will learn Acupressure and Shiatsu techniques to enhance your Acupuncture or Manual Therapy practice. Working from your hara (center) with relaxed attention, follow the subtle cues of your receiver’s body that allow you to touch deeply and feel the moving Qi.
Schedule:
• Simple exercises to move our own Qi
• Principles of working from your hara (center)
• Principles of sensing and guiding Qi with your hands
• Bladder Line – demo followed by hands-on practice
• Basic technique for Acupoint combinations
• Closing Qi gong exercise
Practitioner Note: This is a required class for anyone taking one of Barbara Blanchard’s classes and who is not proficient in how to give an effective treatment using Asian Bodywork Therapy. Learn the principles of Shiatsu (working the entire meridian), Acupressure (sinking deeply into specific points), and the use of Acupoint Combinations (pressing pairs of points to move Qi for particular effects).
These techniques will be used in Barbara’s workshops. This class will be held again the Saturday afternoon prior to the February EV Sunday Series programs for those interested in developing their ABT and hands on skills. No previous experience is required.
* Friends and family welcome.
RSVP: Although the January event is open to all, we ask that people register on-line so that we have an accurate count and can plan accordingly. 20 participants per class, register early to reserve your space!
