ARTSpace music presents Witness Matlou.


Born in Johannesburg-South Africa, Witness Matlou is a jazz pianist, composer, performer and bandleader holding a Berklee College of Music degree in Performance, Jazz Compositions with a minor in Philosophy.


From learning to play music in his church, Matlou found himself in a long journey of evaluating music’s nature, purpose, and role it plays in life. He grew up listening and was influenced by the piano sounds of Abdullah Ibrahim, Bheki Mseleku, Moses Molelekwa, Hugh Masekela and other great South African musicians.


Matlou performs nationally and internationally as a leader of his group as well as with established artists such as Joe Lovano, Antonio Sanchez, John Patitucci, John Lockwood and Joe Hunt.
