The Brookline Arts Center is pleased to present our first annual Echo Trobridge Artist Residency featuring the work of Dave Bermingham. The residency provides five weeks of artistic development and culminates with a three-week public exhibition in our unique gallery space. The residency will be from July 27-September 21, 2018, with a reception on Thursday, September 6, 6:00-8:00pm
Bermingham will use his time at the BAC to create a site-specific installation centered on his Occhi sculptures. These pieces are rooted in superstition and concepts of desire, aspiration and "the gaze." Assembled from discarded domestic items such as plates, platters and dinnerware, viewers delight in considering these works from both conceptual and aesthetic perspectives. Bermingham invites the community to contribute similar objects from their own lives to be incorporated into the final installation. Objects can be dropped off at the BAC during office hours, M-F between 9am-5:30pm beginning July 9.
