Rob Masek is a former Battlebots competitor. He has spent has last 15 years constructing fighting robot arenas, and organizing torunaments. He currently works as the DIrector of operations here at Artisan's Asylum. In his spare time, he Volunteers for FIRST - For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, and other robotics competitions.
With the help of the Artisan's Asylum comunity we have constructed an arena and are holding local competitions. We want to get you involved and building your first fighting robot.
From 7:30-9:00 the talk will cover
The basic rules of fighting robots
The standard technologies and resources for competitors
How to prepare for your first event.
From 9:00 to 10:00 will be a Q and A session
About Rob Masek
Rob is an engineer, technician, and educator with a passion for fighting robots and clean aisles. He owns and operates Black Swan Robotics, LLC, and teaches several types of fabrication and digital design. Rob also competed on Comedy Central’s BattleBots three times, and has produced and run several robotics competitions (including several US FIRST Robotics competitions and a home-brewed robot combat event called Pound of Pain). Most recently, he worked at Paperless Parts and Rapid Sheetmetal, serving as an equipment technician and production engineer.
The Artisan's Asylum Speaker Series seeks to engage our community and inspire us to make the world we want to see. All events are free for members and Friends of Artisan’s and a $10 suggested donation from the public.
