In relation to HUBweek 2018, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is proud to host a collection of free special events taking place the evening of Wednesday, October 10. Free admission begins at 4 pm and events begin at 5 pm.
HUBweek is a civic collaboration and weeklong, city-wide festival bringing together the most creative and inventive minds making an impact in art, science, and technology. The MFA’s events are designed to showcase how we are building for a more inclusive future, in the space where that work is happening:
• Discover how local artist Jason Chase and scientists from NanoLab, Inc. are blending art and technology to create and produce Singularity Black, one of the "blackest black" pigments available. Hear from Jason about the creation of Singularity Black using nano-carbon technology and see it in action, from dresses to sculpture.
• A City Talks panel discussion moderated by Felicia Jadczak of She Geeks Out addresses the creation of greater social impact in Boston. Panelists include Kadahj Bennett, performer/teaching artist; Alice Brown, director of Water Transportation, Boston Harbor Now; and Kishore Varanasi, AICP, principal and director of Urban Design, CBT
• Learn about UX design and accessibility on the web from a design expert from General Assembly. Join a discussion about how technology can be made more inclusive for blind, deaf and disabled users. See designs and building products that level the playing field for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at work, at home and during play.
