Please join us as we celebrate the opening of 'Art of Ayiti'! Curated and organized by Saint Rock Haiti Foundation's Education Committee Chair Napoleon Lherisson and long time volunteer Aidan Rooney, this new exhibit hosted by the Thayer Art Gallery will present a taste of the artistic heritage of Haiti. The exhibition will feature media that accents the twin roles the eye and the hands play in aesthetic production, including up-cycled, oil-drum art from Croix-des-Bouquets, an artisanal village on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince; photography evocative of the place and the people by Jim King - another long time SRHF volunteer and Thayer Academy Faculty member; as well as paintings from the Haitian folk-art tradition. SRHF is deeply grateful to Thayer Academy's Hope for Haiti Club and the broader Thayer community for their partnership, generosity and enthusiasm over the last several years and we are excited to announce this event and the opportunity to deepen our understanding of the Haitian culture and its beautiful artistic traditions.
All pieces will be available for purchase and proceeds will advance the educational initiatives of the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation.
