Boston is home to some of the best public art and arts institutions in the country. The city is also home to many controversial moments in the history of art. Between the largest art heist of all time, sculptures with colorful political backgrounds, and public art that prompts so many varying reactions from people near and far, this tour explores the stories and dialogues behind some fascinating art works over the past few decades. We will discuss the role of art in the public space and the impact of these controversies on the community, artists, and the art world.
Advance registration is required for this tour. Registrants will receive an email with the street address for our first stop as well as a phone number to dial and participate in the tour.
How does it work?
You and your baby will stay in the car throughout the entire tour and we will drive from each stop to the next. Upon arrival, you will be asked to dial into an audio call and remain connected during the tour. At each stop, we will park and listen to the tour on the call. You will be able to (and are encouraged!) to ask questions, share observations, and participate as you normally would in an in-person tour. Crying babies are, of course, always welcome.
Will we be getting out of the car?
No. This tour takes place entirely in your car using the audio from your phone. You are welcome to return to certain spots on your own afterwards, but we will not be gathering outdoors as a group.
What do I need to bring?
Bring your phone (to call in and for the GPS), a phone charger, your baby, and lots of questions!
Parent Tours offers art tours for parents with their babies. The tours are geared towards adults and welcome hungry babies, crying babies, sleeping babies, and everything in between! Visit www.ParentTours.com for more information.
