Chefs Roland Calupe and Creon Mallett have teamed up with wine specialist Darrell Villaruz to takeover Saus Boston with an international evening: Aperitivo Extravaganza: An Italian Food & Wine event.
Break out of your Monday doldrums with a fun night exploring a favorite Italian tradition: Aperitivo! Whether you’ve wandered the rustic winding roads of Tuscany, or never left the East Coast- let the Chefs introduce you to one of their favorite ways to unwind… Aperitivo; traditionally a drink and a light meal that takes place at the end of the workday, which serves as a time to relax and warm up for dinner.
It's a great way to experience local culture, people watch, meet new people, and unwind with friends and co-workers. “Italy is a special place for me,” Chef Roland shares, “From the year I lived and worked in Rome to working in Italian restaurants in the US; Italian food and culture will always be a part of my cooking philosophy of using high-quality ingredients, prepared in a simple way. I’m glad that I’m able to cook with old friends and colleagues like Chef Creon, that share that passion.”
Chef Roland and Chef Creon, both Michelin-Star trained chefs will delight your palette with their unique and creative spread of traditional and modern takes on classic antipasti. Such succulent treats that they are planning include: a gorgeous Nduja sausage stuffed focaccia with ricotta and truffle honey, seared Boston Mackerel with salsa verde in endive, fried artichokes with neonata gremolata, scallop crudo with Campari agrodolce shiso leaf and Phillipine sea salt. Included in the $35 price is a complimentary glass of prosecco.
Wine Specialist, Darrell Villaruz will be on-hand pouring a variety of red and white wines, and an assortment of beer will also be available for purchase.
There are two seating options: 5:30-730 pm or 8-10 pm, so whether you are meeting up with your mates after a long day or looking for a fun and interesting date night opportunity, you won’t want to miss this event. It's going to be a fun night with great food and drink in a casual setting.

About the Chefs:
Chef Roland and Chef Creon: after working together in Chicago, at the best Italian restaurants the city has to offer- they are teaming up again. This collaboration has been years in the making; while chef Roland has dedicated himself to becoming a big contender in the Boston food scene, Chef Creon has worked in some of the world’s most unique dining locations from Alaska to Australia. Though both of their careers have drifted beyond strictly Italian food, they both still have an abundance of love and admiration for Italian food and culture and would love to share that passion with you.
The Chefs are collaborating with Darrell Villaruz who will be pairing wines to the delicious bites of food and sharing his knowledge/philosophy behind his wine choices for the evening.
