Alexander Smalls, Tony and Grammy Award-winning opera singer turned James Beard Award-winning cookbook author, chef, and culinary historian, brings together the worlds of music, food, and the African diaspora in a vibrant, deeply personal talk. Drawing on his dual careers on the world’s greatest stages and in celebrated kitchens, Smalls will explore how African foodways have traveled across continents, shaping cuisines and cultures from Africa to the American South and beyond. With the flair of a performer and the insight of a culinary historian, he will reveal how both song and sustenance carry the stories of migration, resilience, and creativity, leaving an indelible mark on global culture.

Smalls will be in conversation with Charla Jones, founder and CEO of eu2be, an award-winning skincare brand inspired by centuries of global beauty traditions and created to honor all bodies and skin types, and named after her world-traveling aunt Eugenia.
