Three accomplished storytellers will be joined by three new local storytellers for an evening of storytelling to benefit asylum seekers in the community from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at First Parish Church of Stow And Acton, 353 Great Road, Stow.

Proceeds will fund housing, transportation, food, medical care, legal aid and bond to release asylum seekers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention, with a focus on supporting women and children fleeing violence from Central America.

The six storytellers range from Norah Dooley, co-founder of Massmouth, to E.J. Labb, a self-proclaimed "inexperienced but enthusiastic storyteller." The evenings featured storytellers also include Theresa Okokon, who is co-host of WGBH and Massmouth's "Stories from the Stage," and Rose Saia, a Moth and Massmouth story slam winner who has been a featured teller at The International Institute "Suitcase Stories." In addition to Labb, the local newcomers are Sal Lopes and Jamie Tessler.

The event, which is appropriate for ages 14 and up, is being hosted by First Parish Church of Stow And Acton and Fugitive Productions.

Desserts, snacks, wine and beer will be sold. Tickets are $20 and can be ordered in advance at http://asylum-support.bpt.me. For information, contact [email protected]. FPC's facilities are wheelchair accessible..
