Kate Spencer is coming to Lovestruck on Monday, July 21 for an evening of romance and rivalry as we celebrate the release of her new novel, All’s Fair in Love and Pickleball! This hilarious and heart-swoony rom-com pits a sunshiney optimist against her longtime rival in a high-stakes pickleball tournament—and sparks fly on and off the court. Kate will be joined in conversation by Boston Globe’s beloved “Love Letters” columnist Meredith Goldstein, making this a perfect match of wit, wisdom, and juicy behind-the-scenes book talk. For a grumpy/sunshine pairing, pickleball puns, enemies-turned-teammates-turned-lovers, a fabulous friend group of retirees, fake dating, and a dash of SPICE, All’s Fair in Love and Pickleball is your perfect summer read!

Check-in will take place at our front entrance on Brattle Street. If you have any accessibility needs, you're welcome to use our side entrance (located on the right side of the building), which is wheelchair accessible and has a ramp.

ABOUT KATE SPENCER

Kate Spencer is the bestselling author of In a New York Minute, One Last Summer, and The Dead Moms Club, and the recipient of two iHeart Radio Podcast Awards for her work on Forever35. Her work has been published by the Washington Post, Rolling Stone, InStyle, Esquire, and Cosmopolitan. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two daughters.

Pickleball rivalry? Sure. Falling for your fake boyfriend? Now that’s a surprise.

Bex Martin’s racquet club is her entire world. But the business she inherited from her mother has started to feel more like a sinking ship. That is, until Nikolaus Karras—a former tennis bad-boy with an ego as big as his serve—makes himself at home on her courts.

Niko has something to prove, and a high-stakes pickleball tournament is just what he needs to get back in the game after a career-ending injury. When he is finally able to set his ego aside to ask for Bex’s help, everyone assumes that they are a couple—on and off the court.

But she needs the prize money to save the club, and he needs a win to restore his reputation. So now they have a fake relationship as well as a doubles partner that they can’t seem to resist. Game on!


ABOUT MEREDITH GOLDSTEIN

Meredith Goldstein is a longtime writer for The Boston Globe who also writes other things, including books. Her advice column, Love Letters, is a daily dispatch of wisdom for the lovelorn that started in 2009. The first season of the Love Letters podcast launched in 2018. It is a very lovely podcast.

Meredith’s books include the upcoming young adult novel Things That Grow, about a teen in love (who also learns how to deal with the complicated adults in her life); Meredith’s memoir, Can’t Help Myself: Lessons and Confessions From a Modern Advice Columnist (Grand Central/Hachette); Chemistry Lessons (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), a young adult novel about a young woman who uses science to manipulate her love life; and The Singles, a novel about a group of dateless guests at a wedding.
