Celebrate the collaborative work of engineers, occupational therapists, and designers who participated in a 10-week innovative summer program at Parsons School of Design – Open Style Lab. Open Style Lab (OSL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making style and clothing accessible to people of all abilities. In addition to performing continuous research in the field, OSL holds various events and educational programs to raise awareness and build accessible wearables with designers, engineers, and occupational therapists.
This year's theme was Aging and Mobility. Mobility is essential to maintaining an independent lifestyle for all abilities. Teams looked at how materials, silhouettes, and technologies facilitate independent mobility and the collaborative movement with a caretaker. Emphasis was centered on discovering common wearable challenges that bridge the aging community with persons with disabilities to identify universal design solutions.
