Using case studies, personal testimonies, and real-life Active Shooter/Killer situations, this 90-minute seminar looks at simple ways that people can increase their survival chances in an active shooter/active killer incident. The presentation will discuss how/when to run, to hide/barricade (including the dangers of certain types of hiding), and how to effectively fight/take the shooter (or Knife-Attacker) out, as an unarmed person or group of people, if and when the situation calls for it. We will also discuss the role of law enforcement, and how to behave when they arrive on the scene, as well as what we can do to best assist law enforcement.
The goal of the presentation is to leave attendees with a better understanding of active shooter situations and effective solutions, so as to increase confidence in the simple, but vitally important actions that would be undertaken in a real life situation. This seminar will also offer participants an opportunity to practice solutions, including how to instruct others with you to assist in your efforts. Physical solutions are taught as straightforward concepts, and will be performed safely, at a pace that is comfortable for participants. Those who would prefer not to take part in physical drills will have the option to observe this part of the seminar.
This seminar is free to members of the school, but is also open to members of the public at a cost of $99 (attendees must be 18 years or older).
