Dr. Charrise Barron charts the history of Black music by tracing key movements in African American history—both geographical relocations, and political and artistic uprisings and outcries. This presentation traces Black American music from the songs of enslaved African diasporic people in America up to the music of contemporary Black popular artists. Dr. Barron is a professor of Africana Studies and Music at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arFRlm9l4Mg
