One of the greatest albums of all time, the Beatles’ White Album has stood the test of time as a fan and critic favorite. Now, some of music’s beloved artists pay tribute to this amazing piece of work with the It Was 50 Years Ago Today tour, featuring Todd Rundgren, Christopher Cross, Micky Dolenz, Jason Scheff, and Joey Molland performing the 1968 double album in its entirety.
Rundgren is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter known for his diverse range of styles as a solo artist and as a member of the band Utopia. His best-known songs include “Hello It’s Me” and “Bang the Drum All Day.”
Cross, winner of five Grammy Awards, is best known for his singles “Sailing” and “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do),” both of which peaked at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Arthur’s Theme” also won the Oscar for best original song in 1981.
Dolenz was one of four actors selected to join the Monkees in 1965. The band’s debut single, “Last Train to Clarksville,” with Dolenz on vocals, rocketed swiftly to no. 1. The Monkees went on to win two Emmys, and spawned a feature film and a rock band that toured for decades.
Scheff is a vocalist and bassist who was part of the band Chicago (1985–2016). Scheff took over for Peter Cetera before Chicago 18 (1986). In addition to performing the band’s classic material, Scheff composed many original Chicago classics, including “What Kind of Man Would I Be?” in 1989.
Molland, an English guitarist and composer best known for being a founding member of the band Badfinger, also has worked as a studio and tour guitarist for artists such as George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Peter Frampton, and 10,000 Maniacs.
Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see some of rock’s biggest legends pay homage to one of modern music’s most influential albums.
