Two Pulitzer-Prize-winning authors—American expatriates in France in the 1930s—of different generations and different social circles. What topic would bind them in a close friendship? Gardening. “A Cultivated Friendship” is a performance of selected letters of Louis Bromfield (John Dennis Anderson) and Edith Wharton (Karen Vuranch), edited and published by Daniel Bratton in Yrs, Ever Affly: The Correspondence of Edith Wharton and Louis Bromfield. Wharton and Bromfield's mutual passion for gardens created a deep friendship, further enhanced by their shared profession of writing and shared frustration at the business of writing. This 50-minute performance will be followed by a Q&A with the actors.
