MassArt's Industrial Design & Fashion Design celebrates their connection to footwear design by hosting Stuart Weitzman -- designer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of the eponymous company. Stuart started designing in his twenties for his father’s factory, Seymour Shoes in Haverhill, MA. Fueled by his Wharton degree, he and his brother Warren ran the business for almost a decade after his father’s death. In 1986 he went solo with this own company, known today for his one-of-a-kind, million-dollar shoes, dazzling aesthetic and unique materials.
