Make the MFA your Thursday night destination! On the third Thursday of every month, enjoy the Museum after dark with $5 admission from 5 to 10 pm. Explore the galleries, join hands-on art-making, shop unique finds, and grab drinks and a bite to eat. Every month brings something new! From new exhibitions to live performances, there are plenty of reasons to gather with friends, meet new ones, or escape with art at the MFA.

Make the most of your Thursday evening—wander the collection galleries, visit old favorites, and discover something new. Kick off Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month and join us for an evening celebrating Latinx heritage and culture. Catch live music, make art, join a talk in the galleries, and see works of art by Latinx artists.

Drop-In Art Making: Ex-Votos, Paintings that Tell a Story

5–9 pm (last entry 8:45 pm)

Shapiro Family Courtyard

Ex-votos paintings, often created on tin or found materials, express thanks for answered prayers or show, using words as well as images, something amazing or unexplainable that happened to someone. Taking inspiration from ex-voto paintings on view in gallery 336 of the Art of the Americas Wing, use paint, markers, and mixed media to create your own work of art that shares a story!


Spotlight Talk: Portrait of a Mexican Silversmith

A silver chalice has been at the MFA for more than 100 years. A portrait of its maker, the silversmith José María Rodallega, just joined the Museum’s collection. Learn about these two objects from colonial Mexico, now on view in the MFA’s reimagined galleries of 18th-century art of the Americas.

Sound Bites: Camelia Latin-Jazz Trio

Enjoy a performance featuring both American standards and classic Spanish-language songs—a lively fusion of jazz spontaneity and the rhythms of Latin America such as salsa, merengue, cumbia, bachata, and bolero.
