3 artists: Celebrating Autism is the 6th annual art exhibition featuring the artwork of professional autistic artists, including Michael McManmon, Anastasia O'Melveny, and Naieer Shaheed.
This year we will also feature the work of artists from previous exhibitions, including John M. Williams, Larry Bissonnette and Kimberly Gerry Tucker, among others, who have generously donated work to the gallery to help us continue our work. Proceeds from the sale of their selected pieces will support the ongoing work of 3 artists.
The mission of the art show is to highlight the strength, genius, and creativity of autism. We hope to help shift negative perceptions about autism by celebrating neurodiversity. In keeping with the mission of the exhibit and the gallery, we do not collect commission; 100 percent of proceeds from art sales go directly to the artists.
This exhibition is a fully volunteer initiative that has relied on the generous support of Vivian Poey, artist and curator of the John O. and Olivia Parker Gallery; our student and alumni volunteers, especially alumnus Liam Rutter Stokes and graduate student Jessica Ricordi; self-advocate Bryan Gilgallon; and our community partners and donors. It was founded by Elizabeth Stringer Keefe and has been a joint effort between the Special Education and Creative Arts and Learning programs in the Graduate School of Education since 2012.
