This year's awardee, David P. Manfredi, CEO & Founding Principal of Elkus Manfredi Architects, will be in conversation with Boston Public Library President David Leonard. Following the discussion there will be an audience Q&A. Druker Company President Ronald M. Druker will give welcoming remarks.

Please note that this program will now occur in the Rabb Lecture Hall on the Lower Level of the Boylston Street Building of the Central Library in Copley Square. If the Eventbrite registration page is showing that we have reached capacity, please visit the "Registration Required" box on the BPL event listing to register if there are still tickets available there.

More about David P. Manfredi, FAIA, LEED AP:

David Manfredi works with clients across the country on a diverse portfolio of planning and design projects. Deeply committed to the belief that the quality of our environment directly influences the quality of our lives, he effectively advocates for building and protecting vital, sustainable, durable urban places. At every scale, in every context, David's mission is to create common ground that brings people and communities together. He reinvents tired urban precincts into 21st-century mixed-use environments, the edges of universities from barriers into connective seams with adjacent neighborhoods, underutilized urban areas into diverse innovation districts that support the collaborative imperatives of today's science and technology, and obsolete manufacturing buildings into repurposed hubs of living and working that reinvigorate the urban core. The portfolio of design work is diverse in typology and scale and similar in sense of purpose and commitment to values of sustainability, diversity and inclusion. This diversity of work and commitment to values is manifest in the planning for Boston Landing and the architecture of New Balance headquarters, Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics practice facilities and the Track at New Balance; the mixed-use towers of Seaport Square; the research headquarters for Vertex Pharmaceuticals; the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard; the research headquarters for MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX; the Seaport headquarters for Mass Mutual; the rehabilitations of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross; the former Sears building at 401 Park Drive; and the planning for the Volpe Redevelopment Parcel at MIT. A compelling, sought-after speaker and thought-leader, David presents to business, civic, and professional organizations throughout the country about the value that mindful design brings to the quality of everyday life.

David is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and an active member of the Boston Preservation Alliance, Boston Society of Architects, and Urban Land Institute (ULI). He serves on the Boston Civic Design Commission, as chair of the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture Advisory Council, on the Board of Trustees of the Boston Architectural College, the Boston Society of Architects Foundation and the ULI Boston Advisory Board. David is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with Bachelor degrees in both English and Architecture, and the University of Chicago, where he received a Master of Arts.

David has been recognized by A Better City with the Norman B. Leventhal Excellence in City Building Award, by the Boston Preservation Alliance with the President’s Award and St. Anthony’s Shrine with the Pope Francis Award.
