On behalf of our Board of Directors and Host Committee, we are pleased to invite you to participate in the 13th Annual Sandra K. Russell Derby Day Benefit for Mito on Saturday, May 6, 2023. This year's event is at a new and exciting location, Memoire Nightclub at Encore Boston Harbor. We are so excited to add the casino theme to this year's event! In Addition we are excited to pay tribute with the rebranding of MitoWish to the new Dalia’s Wish at this year's event.
The past few years have been extremely difficult for all of us and we look forward to gathering together, in person, to celebrate our incredible mito warriors and YOU, the community that has ensured the families we serve know they are never alone. We look forward to watching the running of Kentucky Derby horse races while we enjoy cocktails, big hats, flashy bow ties and unique auction items and more, as we come together to support the mitochondrial disease community.
The Sandra K. Russell Derby Day plays an important role in the financial support of our programming. To date, the Sandra K. Russell Derby Day has raised over $1.3 million in funds that go directly toward improving the lives of seriously ill patients and their families, provided 45 scholarships for college students with mitochondrial disease, and sent over 400 kids with mitochondrial disease to summer camp. In 2023, we plan on sending more groups of families for a once-in-a-lifetime wish trip through our partnership with Give Kids the World Village in Orlando, FL.
We are beyond grateful for the generosity of the Boston community, volunteers, and guests who have made this evening such a success year after year. With your support, we can continue to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by mitochondrial disease when they need it most.
