Please join us in celebrating our 11th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 7:30 AM at the Roxbury YMCA as we celebrate bringing businesses and communities together to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.


Our Keynote Speaker for the morning will be Professor Ronald S. Sullivan Jr., a leading theorist in the areas of criminal justice, criminal procedure, and serves as faculty director of the Harvard Criminal Justice Institute. Professor Sullivan is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Morehouse College and Harvard Law School.


The Keeper of the Dream Community Service Award will be presented to Mr. Joseph Feaster Jr. A lawyer and community activist for forty years, Joe serves on numerous boards including the National Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health, Inc. We honor Mr. Feaster for his tireless commitment to Roxbury and his many years of service to the City of Boston.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Corporate Leadership Award will be presented to The Cruz Companies, a third generation family owned enterprise based in Roxbury. Founded in 1948 by John “Bertie” Cruz, r., and now headed by Bertie’s son, John B. Cruz, III. We honor the Cruz Companies for their seventy year commitment to the community and families of Roxbury, through economic and community development opportunities.

The proceeds of our breakfast help to support the programs and services we provide for our children, youth, families and seniors to continually expand to help ensure everyone in our community has a safe place to learn, grow and thrive.

The work of the Roxbury YMCA would not be possible without the continued generosity and support of local businesses, YMCA members, and community leaders.
