The history of Japanese whisky, begins with Shinjiro Torii, who founded the Suntory whisky distillery in 1923. Shinjiro Torii dreamed of creating a subtle and refined, yet complex whisky that would suit the delicate palate of the Japanese and enhance their dining experience. Inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, Torii envisioned a Japanese approach by choosing a terrain and climate completely different from those of Scotland. He chose the region of Yamazaki, Kyoto as the birthplace of Japanese whisky.
Join us at The Hawthorne in Kenmore Square for a view into the world of Japanese whiskey. The tasting will begin at 6:00pm, with snacks and cocktails available before and after.
