The Oh Hellos stage Christmas Extravaganza, a unique holiday event that mixes the band’s critically acclaimed live show with music from The Oh Hellos Family Christmas Album, as well as additional carols, bad jokes, singalongs, dancing, revelry, and all the holiday cheer you can squeeze onto one stage.
The band, composed of siblings Tyler and Maggie Heath, was formed after the pair wrote a song for their mother’s birthday. Since forming in 2011, the Oh Hellos have released six albums and have earned a reputation as a special live act. The duo is surrounded on stage by a rotating cast of pickers and players, numbering as many as 13 at any given time, often spilling into the audience. The show, like the music itself, is at times delicate, intimate, and affectionate; at other times, it is soaring, towering, and joyfully explosive.
From its start, the Family Crest featured an audacious approach that has been matched by an even bolder vision of musical community, with the seven-piece core of the band augmented by members of the “extended family”—roughly 400 friends and fans that contribute whatever musical element they can. The Family Crest has developed a national following, as well as a long list of musicians who want to join the family.
