On September 9, the Taste of the North End – a nonprofit founded in 1993 by restaurateur Donato Frattaroli – will close out summer with the 15th annual Bocce Tournament charity event on Boston’s waterfront. A day of competitive bocce games, grills will also fire up an Italian-style barbeque at the event, which will bring together hundreds of participants in support of the North End community and to raise funds for valued scholarships. This year’s event will pay homage to a great family man and friend, Sal Balsamo – an inspiring philanthropist who supported a multitude of charities throughout his life and is a longtime supporter of this event.
For a $50 donation, teams of two are invited to participate in the pallino competition, which is complete with a tournament t-shirt and food. Event organizers, Donato Frattaroli & Chris Zizza will kick off the games beginning at 10:00am and teams will compete to take home a trophy awarded to the first and second place teams. Non-bocce participants are invited to come and enjoy an end-of-summer outing for a worthwhile cause.
A donation of $50/person includes bocce (teams of 2), a tournament t-shirt and barbecue. To donate, register a team or sponsorship inquiries, please contact Pam at 781.956.7441 or Donato at [email protected].
