Join photographer José Galvez for a Street Photography Tour of the Latin Quarter. A JP Historical Society guide will also be along to provide information on the Hyde Square neighborhood’s social activist and Latinx history. Mr. Galvez will discuss photographing and capturing neighborhood scenes. Please bring your camera and wear good walking shoes.
Galvez was the first Mexican-American photographer to be hired at The Los Angeles Times, and was part of a team that won a Pulitzer Prize for a landmark series on Latino neighborhoods in Southern California. He currently lives in Durham, N.C., where he works as a freelance photographer documenting Latino communities in the South. More information can be found at www.josegalvez.com
