Beverly, MA, March 23, 2019 – In celebration of their one-year anniversary, SOSS Records is hosting The Skunk-Funk Dance Jam Party at 9 Wallis in Beverly. The evening will feature Skunk Sessions, a super-group of musicians who elevate covers of rock and blues tunes far beyond their original meaning. The second act, The Motown Masterpiece Orchestra, will lend a dance-centric concoction of funk, jazz and soul. Joy Jolliffe, SOSS board member says, “We’re excited for our 1st of many Dance Jams on the North Shore. We anticipate a full house and a packed dance floor of music lovers ready to get their groove on!”


Featured both onstage and off will be one of SOSS’s founders and renowned Sax player, Henley Douglas, Jr., co-founder of former Heavy Metal Horns and Boston Horns, and current HDRnB band. Henley is an original founder of the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival. Douglas says, “Our Dance Jam will include two bands with some of the most talented musicians from the Boston area. You can expect heavy jams, a horn section, explosive vocals & a relentless rhythm zone that will move your groove from start to finish!”


Also featured will be contemporary art by Tali Marotz, who will be creating incredible one-of-a-kind pieces of art using vinyl records.


In an age when DJ’s and electronic music rule, the new recording and artist management company, SOSS Records, is passionate about reigniting live music on the North Shore. In their first year, they’ve signed three artists, recorded and promoted four records, sold out a show at the Cabot Theater and created a comprehensive live music calendar to help promote live music and community on the North Shore. After all, bringing music lovers together is what SOSS is all about. “We all met through music and our passion for live, original music,” says Leila Cavallaro, SOSS master networker and promoter.
