Science by the Pint is a free science café in which we invite a Boston-area research lab out to a pub or brewery to chat science over a cold one. The events are geared toward a general audience – all are welcome and no experience is necessary!

This week's event is:
Viruses To The Rescue: How Gene Therapy with Viruses Can Preserve Vision

FEATURING
Dr. Constance L. Cepko, Ph.D.
Bullard Professor of Genetics and Neuroscience, Harvard Medical School
Professor of Opthalmology, Harvard Medical School

How does development of a complex organ, like our eyes, happen so well that most of us are born with a functional visual system? It is somewhat of a miracle, but one the Cepko lab is working to understand. As well, the Cepko lab aims to help those who are not so fortunate by developing therapies for loss of vision. To this end, they are developing gene therapy for blindness.

Thursday, March 1st, 6:30-8:00pm at Aeronaut Brewery (14 Tyler Street, Somerville, MA, 02143)
