We invite you to spend this Valentine’s Day weekend with us for the next installment of our Salon Concert Series! The Salon Series provides our audience with the chance to hear professional chamber music in an intimate and engaging setting.


The works of Ibert, Milhaud, and Poulenc compose a vignette of eclectic musical styles in the French modernist tradition, combining polytonal textures and chromatic motion while expressing an infatuation with more traditional melodic structures and rhythmic motifs. This blend of styles emerged as a natural response to impressionism, along with the rise of film as a vehicle for musical compositions, which all three of these composers experienced within their lifetime.


While being distant from the former three composers in time and space, Mozart’s Woodwind and Piano Quintet in E-Flat Major showcases his panache for combining the expressive with the analytical - a virtue that is echoed in the works of the other compositions in this program.
