The Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center at Boston University is proud to announce the acquisition of the compelling Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Archive. The collection, acquired from the Rosenberg’s sons, Michael and Robert Meeropol, includes correspondence from their time in prison, letters to their sons, and other archival material.
To allow the greatest access to the remarkable correspondence, the Gotlieb Center will launch a new website dedicated to the Rosenberg Archive. The site will host an electronic, searchable listing of the collection as well as the digitized correspondence and other relative material. Visitors will be able to view high-resolution images of the more than 500 letters written between Julius and Ethel Rosenberg during their incarceration.
To mark the significance of the acquisition and the launching of the website, the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center is pleased to host a panel discussion entitled ROSENBERG & SNOWDEN, exploring two of the most famous cases of conspiracy to commit espionage in United States history. Panelists for the discussion will include Michael and Robert Meeropol, sons of the Rosenbergs; journalists and authors Jonathan Alter and Stephen Kinzer; former CIA case officer for 30 years Joseph Wippl; Cold War historian Igor Lukes; and moderated by John Carroll, former WGBH moderator for Beat the Press.
The event will take place Tuesday October 7, 2014 at 5:30 PM in Metcalf Ballroom and will include a reception.
