Join us for a reading of a new play Zabel in Exile, based on the life and writings of early 20th century Armenian writer and political activist Zabel Yessayan. An Armenian writer, political activist, and feminist, Yessayan harnessed the power of the pen to fight for equality and peace. The play takes place during Yessayan’s interrogation by the Soviets for espionage. As she fights to survive, Yessayan must come to terms with the whole of her life and the impact her writings and actions.

The play, written by R. N. Sandberg and directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian, will feature six actors live in the Museum’s newly renovated Adele & Haig Der Manuelian galleries, third floor. Tickets are free, please email [email protected] or call to reserve a seat. Generously co-sponsored by The Armenian Museum of America, AIWA, and NAASR, also supported by Project SAVE.
