Piece-A-Day Project Discussion and Concert
TMC Composition Class led by Michael Gandolfi


The 'Piece-A-Day' project requires the TMC Composition Fellows to write three pieces (one per day) for instrumentations that are revealed only twenty-four hours before each work is due. This places unusual demands on the writing process, as most composers are typically accustomed to having flexible time-frames in which to complete their pieces. Working under such tight constraints necessitates a trust in the mining of raw, musical ideas, which among other virtues, reveals an insight into an aspect of the creative process that is often quite exhilarating, instructive, and reassuring.
