This is a 3/4 mile sculpture race of 17 zany wheeled contraptions, including Dizzy, the kinetic bird-batting cat built by teens; a square-wheeled sailboat made by Harvard students; a tiny wheeled creature that audibly interacts with audiences; a 23' giant fish; a boat with flapping wings; and many more extravagant and outlandish works!
We have free racing flags for children and bystanders who arrive in time for the race.
The race kicks off the Cambridge Arts River Festival at 11 AM at the south corner of University Park Commons and winds south and east through Cambridgeport.
Please leave plenty of time to reach the start line, as Massachusetts Avenue will be closed from Central Square to Sidney Street and Sidney Street will be closed from Mass Ave. to Pilgrim.
See http://www/sculptureracing.org for a map of the racecourse, images of sculptures racing, and more! You can also direct questions to [email protected].
